April:
4th & 5th - We enjoyed General Conference in our own home for the first time in a long time. We definitely missed family and the traditions we are used to (scones, girls night out, etc). We did make scones too, so we could carry on the tradition. Yum! I do have to admit, it was probably the most conference I have heard on TV in many conferences because Sophia napped during all the sessions and Scott watched or mostly entertained himself. David and I actually snuggled during most of it! Pretty nice if you ask me. :)
11th - David's brother and his family from Chicago visted that weekend. We took them on a grand tour of our town which included a visit to the famous SPAM Museum. This is where Scott first discovered how much fun spam could be. When we got to the grocery store a few days after our SPAM Museum visit, Scott asked for spam. When we found it he picked up a can and carried it all around the store for the rest of the shopping trip. I had wished I had a camera. It was PDC to see Scott walking around the grocery store holding his can of spam. Since then he is a regular spam lover. He enjoys it plain (yuck), fried (okay), grilled (not bad), and pretty much any way at all.
15th - Sold our home in Utah. What a blessing! Wahoo!! All on tax day too. Needless to say between selling our house, searching for a home, taxes, and all the normal stuff, April was a very busy and slightly stressful month.
21st - Sophia began clapping. She loves to clap when she has done something and especially when you say YAY!
26th - Sophie learned to crawl. She had been scooting here and there, but on the last Sunday of the month during Relief Society she started crawling! It really isn't easy to sit and be reverent when you want to clap and shout horray! for your baby girl who is learning something new. I had to settle for smiling BIG at my sweet girl until church was over.
30th - Made an offer on a beautiful home here in Minnesota, which was accepted the following day. The market is so good for buyers right now that we had so much to look at. There were so many homes that we could have been happy in, but every time we returned to this house, it just felt like home. We are on schedule to close on the 16th of June and will do some painting and then move in. We can't wait to really settle in! We are so blessed!
May:
4th - Scott started sounding out some words while we were reading a library book about trucks. He read the words: big, roll, and gas. Since then he has added look, honk, me, up and other words to his sight words. He loves trying to sound words out. In fact, when we did the grocery shopping that week and he picked up his can of spam, he sounded out the word maps from it. We are so amazed and proud of him. It is exciting to see him learn and love it.
9th - Sophia's first tooth came in (bottom, left). OUCH! It is still not completely up, just a little stub. Since then she has gained two more stubs up top. Here they come...the long line of teeth that take forever to come in and hurt like crazy. I don't get it, she'll just loose them in a couple of years anyways. Poor girl she is pretty sad about those teeth.
13th-19th - My Mom, Dad, and sister Alison came to visit! We LOVED it!! We played, relaxed, went to the nature center, got up to the Mall of America for some shopping and rides (Scott rode his first rollercoaster and absolutely loved it), had fun and just took it easy together. It was so great to have them here and so sad to see them leave. I loved having them see what the kids were doing. It is so different to be with them, than hearing about it. It was wonderful!!
22nd-25th - David's brother and his family from Chicago came for Memorial Day weekend. It was so much fun. We took the kids fishing and Sophia pulled up onto the tackle box and fell right over it. David's brother, Charlie, caught 3 fish and the rest of us just tried.
26th - David and I celebrated our 8th Wedding Anniversary!! David was home all day and we just relaxed at home as a family. Then that night our friends watched the kids while we ate dinner at The Old Mill overlooking the river. It was so nice to eat a meal free of feeding children and cleaning spills. :) We stayed there for two hours just enjoying the moment. Thanks to some other friends we also enjoyed a day together at the temple later in the week. Some of my most favorite things about David are his smile, wit, easy going personality (it balances me out), and how he plays with and cares for our children.
