Making Progress

For those of you who don't know, sleep has been somewhat of a rarity at our house this past month and a half. Scott has really struggled at night, especially getting to sleep. He has been scared of voices, shadows, and who knows what. David and I have been taking turns laying with him until he falls asleep, as well as trying other things. Several times Scott has asked for a blessing before bed time because he was scared. It is also common to be woken in the night to Scott having a nightmare or dreaming. To top off our already sleep interrupted nights, Sophia had taken to waking more frequently too. Especially in the past couple of weeks. She had several nights where she woke up every 1-2 hours. I keep wondering if she is teething, but I haven't seen any evidence yet. Who knows...maybe it's a growth spurt. In any case, I have been exhausted and I'm sure my family would say cranky. However, there is hope on the horizon. The past 2 nights Scott has allowed us to leave the room before he fell asleep with the assurance we would be back in a few moments to check on him. Upon returning he has always been asleep. Granted, he has still woken during the night but waking once or twice with him is a lot easier than waking every 1-2 hours with Sophia. And getting up with him is not nearly so bad because Sophie has been sleeping for 12 hours straight the last two nights. WAHOO!! I'd say we're making some serious progress and it's about time. :)

Dear Sarah,

I understand how tired you must be. I hope you find some respite and hang in there. Fatigue is one of my greatest challenges, and the end of it appears to be nowhere. Think of me tonight when you are up...I am sure I will be too.
